Tru-Design is uniquely positioned through its relationship with the world’s largest material science laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, to become the market leader in materials for Big Area Additive Manufacturing (BAAM) in tool making and the application of first class finishes. A Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), and separate service agreement, covers intellectual property development for coatings that will chemically bond to “printed” polymers. The resulting coating material will affect production from mold making to concept vehicle creation. The chemical bonding is needed to allow the application of first class automotive finishes and to the making of tools for manufacturing to achieve the necessary smoothness for parts production.
The Additive Manufacturing Material market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 19.3% from 2014 to 2020 whereas Additive Manufacturing Market excluding materials is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 20.9% from 2014 to 2020.
