97% of rare earths are produced in China, and quotas, escalating prices and shortages are affecting the electronics and other industries as China’s internal demand rises, Although mining is re-starting in the USA and elsewhere it will take years to bridge the gap and restore supply of materials critical to defense, electronics and energy production. The concentrated "ore" of e-waste - magnets, phosphors etc. is currently being discarded. Our process provides a rapid and practical way to transform this e-waste in to the raw materials for ceramic, phosphor and magnet materials US industry needs to produce key defense and civilian products.
