ReGen Power Systems is developing a proprietary engine capable of converting lower temperature heat to power with no emissions. An external combustion, piston engine, similar to a Stirling engine, our technology absorbs heat from a heat source and uses it to create shaft power. The heat source might be from an industrial stack - paper, glass, cement, steel, chemicals, for example - or it could be in connection with biomass gasification or natural gas engine gen-sets. The applications are varied, and the markets are very large. The historically low cost of energy has discouraged R&D in our segment, and there are few competitors, none that can meet our value proposition.
The company has invested $5 million over 15 years in this effort and has tremendous intellectual property and know-how in this field. Patent claims will be filed soon. We are currently testing our first commercial prototype - a 50kW engine - which is already sold - and paid for - to a customer in France. The next unit will go to Turkey. We have grants from DOE and the U.S. Army to continue our development, but need capital equipment for production and working capital to begin interim production of units already ordered. We seek investment of $.5-1.0 million for this purpose.
