Plancorp was founded in 1983 and is registered as an Investment Advisor with the S.E.C. Our firm currently oversees approximately $2.9 billion (March 31, 2015) of both individual and institutional assets. Our primary business focuses on providing financial and estate planning services and asset management to high net worth individuals and families and to the small and mid-size institutional market. Other services that we offer include business advisory, family office and 401-k plans.
Our management team and support staff numbers 27 people and includes 9 principles among our wealth management team of 19.
Our investment philosophy has its origins in Modern Portfolio Theory, and pursues an academic approach to investing as opposed to a traditional Wall Street approach.
We were certified in September 2007 as one of the first Registered Investment Advisors in the nation (and the only firm in Missouri at that time) to earn the Investment Advisor Certification for Fiduciary Practices from the Center for Fiduciary Excellence (CEFEX).
We have custodial relationships with Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments, and TD Ameritrade Institutional. These firms provide custody of our client’s assets along with record keeping, performance reporting and other services. We hold no client assets.
We maintain our principal office in St. Louis County and we have a satellite office in Sarasota, Florida. Plancorp is privately held.
Finally, we are a fee-only firm receiving no compensation from the sale of any investment product or service, and are paid only by our clients…insuring our total independence and complete objectivity.
