Who I am: I’ve spent 20 years inside large organizations — Capital One, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac — figuring out why smart companies make slow decisions. That work turned into a consulting practice. I now work as a fractional CAIO and CPO helping companies make better decisions faster. I know how to read an organization quickly and I know what breaks when leadership changes.
What I’m looking for: A profitable business with a real operator or team already running it. I buy based on cash flow quality and operator independence, not sector familiarity. If the numbers are clean, the customer base is stable, and the business doesn’t fall apart when the owner steps back — I want to see it.
I’ve looked seriously at businesses across healthcare services, technology, education, agricultural and equine operations, vineyard management, and essential services. The sector doesn’t drive the decision. The business quality does.
Target: $300K–$1.2M EBITDA. Businesses in that range where SBA or seller financing makes sense for both sides.
Geography: United States, with a strong preference for Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic.
What I bring post-close: I make strategic decisions and stay out of operational ones. I’ll push on the numbers, ask hard questions about customer concentration and key-person risk, and integrate technology where it genuinely helps. I won’t redesign what’s working.
How I close: I’m working with an SBA-experienced lender and an M&A attorney in Virginia. I’ve been on the sell side of a transaction and I understand what sellers are actually worried about — confidentiality, employee continuity, and whether the buyer will follow through. I don’t waste time and I don’t retrade.
