HKS was founded in 2011 by Christopher Hughes, Tim Keith and John Staab who collectively have over 70 years of fiduciary investment management, capital markets, and advisory experience serving institutional investors, family offices, and other individuals. Management Team:
Christopher L. Hughes, based in suburban Chicago, is a co-founder of HKS Capital Advisors and acts as the Firm's managing principal. He has over 23 years experience in the investment and capital markets with a focus on private equity investing including making direct investments, structuring joint ventures, forming long-term operating partnerships, and privatizations of public companies.
Chris was formerly a Managing Director of Deutsche Bank's Alternative Investments business (RREEF) and the Chief Executive Officer of RREEF Global Securities and Structured Investments, based in Chicago and New York. During his 9-year career with RREEF he held various senior executive positions, was named a partner in 2004, was a voting member of the RREEF Global Executive and Principal Investment Committees from their inception in 2005 through 2009. Previous positions included Chief Executive Officer of RREEF Private Equity, Global Head of Capital Markets and Structured Investments and North American Head of Capital Markets. He also served as the Chairman of RREEF'S Private Equity and Structured Debt Investment Committees. Chris was also responsible for RREEF's North American Real Estate Capital Market Business where he was responsible for transactions in excess of $20 Billion.
Timothy B. Keith, based in Dallas, Texas, is a co-founder of HKS Capital Advisors and acts as the Firm's Chief Investment Officer. Tim has over 14 years experience in the funds management industry, managing public companies, and has over 24 years of experience in investment markets.
Tim was formerly a Managing Director of Deutsche Bank AG and held numerous senior executive positions with RREEF Alternative Investments ("RREEF"), which is the fiduciary investment management operation within Deutsche Asset Management. He departed RREEF, as the Chief Executive Officer of RREEF Infrastructure Investments. Based in New York, he was responsible for managing the global operations of the Infrastructure Funds Management Businesses. In 2009, he partnered with the DB Climate Change Group to design and launch environmental infrastructure funds in Europe and North America. Tim was a voting member of the RREEF Executive Committee and Chair of the Principal Investment Committee from their inception in 2005 through 2010. Previous positions included Global Chief Investment Officer/Head of Business Development of RREEF Alternative Investments, Chief Executive Officer of RREEF Private Equity, Global Chief Investment Officer of RREEF Infrastructure. Tim was also the Partner in Charge of the RREEF Real Estate Domestic Value Add and Development Business.
John A. Staab, based in suburban Chicago, is a co-founder of HKS Capital Advisors and the Principal In Charge of Client Relations. Mr. Staab was formerly a Senior Vice President with Morgan Stanley's Private Wealth Management division in Chicago, Illinois. Previous to Morgan Stanley, he was a Vice President with both the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch and the Citi Family Office that became Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. John has over 23 years of combined experience in investment advisory and capital markets activities. He has substantial experience with asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk mitigation (from both an overall balance sheet perspective and an individual concentrated equity position) and intergenerational values based wealth transition strategies. John has also assisted clients with the evaluation of numerous private equity and hedge fund investments as well as evaluating direct investments in private companies and real estate. Prior to his investment advisory career, John was an independent floor trader at the Chicago Board of Trade where he focused on interest rate futures and options while trading for his own account.
