Blackcastle is an M&A advisory firm serving owners of engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting firms across the United States and Canada. We work exclusively in the AEC sector and represent privately held firms with revenues between $2 million and $100 million. Blackcastle was founded by Jack Simonian.
Our practice covers three core verticals:
Engineering — civil, structural, geotechnical, MEP, transportation and infrastructure, water and wastewater, land development, energy and utilities, and geomatics and land surveying firms.
Architecture — architecture and interior design, A/E multidisciplinary, landscape architecture, and urban planning firms.
Environmental Consulting — environmental services and assessment, remediation and compliance, environmental engineering and sciences, ecological and natural resources consulting, geoenvironmental consulting, and energy efficiency and sustainability firms.
Our focus is sell-side representation. AEC buyers — whether private equity platforms building a professional services portfolio or strategic acquirers expanding geography or technical capabilities — evaluate firms on factors specific to this sector: client concentration, backlog composition, key-person dependency, and the transferability of client relationships. We understand how buyers in this space underwrite deals and we position our clients accordingly.
