Balmy Holdings is a Toronto-based acquirer seeking to purchase and operate one established small business in Canada. We are a principal buyer with committed capital, not a broker or intermediary, and we move quickly and decisively on opportunities that fit.
Investment Criteria
Earnings: EBITDA / SDE of $300K–$1M
Profile: Established businesses with demonstrable cash flow. We prioritize durable customer relationships, recurring revenue, and stable operations.
Owner involvement: For lower-growth businesses, we prefer semi-passive operations — unless the multiple is especially favourable. Where there is solid growth potential, we are fully prepared to step in as a hands-on, full-time owner-operator.
Turnarounds: Open to turnaround situations where the price reflects the risk. Not pursuing pre-revenue concepts or speculative plays.
Geography: Greater Toronto Area preferred; will consider opportunities further afield for the right business.
Structure: Flexible — asset or share purchases, seller financing, earn-outs, and transition arrangements all welcome.
Background & Track Record
The principal brings 20 years across enterprise transformation, business intelligence, and financial-services policy, backed by an HEC Paris MBA (Strategy). Relevant experience includes building and leading a new analytics and decision-support function serving 200+ staff across an organization; modeling customer-level profitability to drive pricing decisions at CN Railway; and delivering a 65% revenue increase on a subscription product through a redesigned pricing and marketing strategy. This combination of operating capability, financial fluency, and disciplined analysis equips us to diligence, close, and run an acquired business with rigour.
