Stonebriar Capital is an entrepreneurial partnership created by Paul Gillette to search for, acquire and build one exceptional SaaS or tech-enabled services company over the next decade with the support of a curated group of investors. The partnership is searching for a business owner or shareholder group seeking liquidity and prefers an alternative to a private equity fund, venture capital investor or strategic acquirer.
At acquisition, Paul will assume the CEO/President position and work with the exiting seller(s) through a transition period, preserving the legacy of the seller(s), investing in growth, and creating new opportunities for the current employees.
Paul has 10 years of experience working with and building privately-owned companies in the lower- and middle-market. Most recently, he was VP Corporate Development for FoodChain ID, a regulatory/compliance software and testing, inspection and certification ("TIC") services company serving global food safety markets. Under Paul's leadership, the company completed 8 acquisitions/integrations in 5 countries and invested $126 million of debt and equity capital, adding $13 million of total EBITDA. Collectively, the executive leadership team grew revenue at FoodChain ID from $75 million to $130 million between 2020 and 2024. FoodChain ID is owned by Berkshire Partners.
In addition, Paul served as interim General Manager for 15 months in one of FoodChain ID’s data services businesses with PnL responsibility exceeding $9 million. During his tenure, Paul steered the growth of that business and expanded EBITDA from $1.9 million to over $4 million by adding structure and maturity to commercial processes, clarifying the go-to-market strategy, focusing the product development roadmap and optimizing the organizational structure.
Prior to FoodChain ID, Paul worked as a private equity investor at GenNx360 Capital Partners where he was responsible for structuring and executing investments in family- and founder-owned companies seeking succession planning or a partner to accelerate growth through add-on acquisitions.
Paul began his career at Jefferies as an analyst supporting senior bankers on a variety of M&A advisory engagements.
Over the past decade, Paul has completed 26 M&A transactions, 18 of those being on the buy-side and 7 of those being cross-border (Australia, Belgium, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Singapore and UK).
Paul received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
