The National Medication Safety, Outcomes and Adherence Program (NMSOAP) is a collaboration between the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and MediMergent to bring the voice of the patient – you! – to the evaluation of medications as they are taken in the real world.
All medications must demonstrate that they are safe and effective before they are approved by the FDA and prescribed by healthcare providers. This monitoring also continues after medications are approved and being used in the real world.
NMSOAP is the first monitoring program to include the “voice of the patient” — via monthly surveys and health records — to help understand the everyday experiences patients like you have with certain medications.
With the aggregated experience and voice of thousands of participants like you, the ultimate goal of NMSOAP is to identify early warning signs of side effects (medication problems, also known as “adverse events”) that can potentially be avoided, and to better understand the causes and reasons that some patients stop taking their medications as prescribed.
Your participation via completion of a brief survey each month about your medication experience will help the medical community gain important insights and help improve patient safety and health outcomes — for you and for the thousands of other patients like you.
