In-Pipe Technology® Company, Inc. provides engineered solutions for biological wastewater treatment to municipalities and industry worldwide. In-Pipe’s patented technologies improve the economics and effectiveness of processing wastewater. Wastewater comes from two major sources: human sewage and process waste from industry. If untreated, wastewater pollutes receiving waters and increases water-borne illnesses. It is estimated that 3 billion people will be in a water scarce region by 2025 and water-borne illnesses will remain a leading cause of death (today, more than 5 million people die annually due to water shortages and water borne illnesses). Water is our most precious natural resource; there is a finite quantity and no direct substitutes. The problems and challenges associated with wastewater treatment are prevalent throughout the world. In the United States, treatment facilities struggle with a confluence of factors including: aging infrastructures, constraints on capital upgrades, increased flow and processing demands, more stringent regulations and high energy costs. (Wastewater treatment is an energy-intensive process; it is estimated to represent >3% of the total electric load of the US.). Globally, an estimated $89 billion was spent on capital equipment for water collection, treatment, and distribution in 2010. Concurrently, some $82 billion was spent on wastewater collection and treatment (Water Markets of the United States and the World: A Strategic Analysis for the Milwaukee Water Council Milwaukee, Wisconsin – November 2010). In-Pipe provides its customers with a critical solution: reduce a wastewater treatment facility’s net operating cost, allow it to increase treatment capacity, and enable it to produce cleaner effluent (water) without additional capital expenditure. In-Pipe, based in Wood Dale, Illinois (Chicago suburb), is a emerging growth company with more than two dozen customer installations throughout North America and several pending installations abroad.
