Founded in late 2012, Dakota Pacific is a family investment group currently investing through a $104 million Fund I. The firm is backed by John R. Miller, who as CEO built two billion-dollar-plus businesses over his career and is active in the firm's investment activities. With a focus on the Western States, we seek to provide patient partnership capital to differentiated, growing businesses. We are experienced investors that target private companies generating $2-20 in annual EBITDA. Compared to the 5-year horizon (+/-) many private equity investment firms have, Dakota Pacific takes a much more long-term view (10-15 years or more). Additionally, we are seeking only 4-5 platform companies in this fund and we expect to invest $20-25 million of equity capital into each platform.
In summary, we are looking for companies with the following characteristics: platform companies based in the Western States; $1 million EBITDA minimum; long-term investment horizon (10-15 year or more); opportunity to invest $20-25 million over time; experienced management teams operating sustainable business models; and deal structures that align the incentives of capital and management.
