AlterLume™ designs and develops common sense, cost effective and environmentally friendly LED street and area lighting replacement lamps, network control solutions and power management systems. Using U.S. based contract manufacturing the company is introducing and producing a series of self-ballasting LED replacement lamps targeting legacy infrastructure owners of outdoor street and area lighting to speed the adoption of LED lighting around the world. Based in San Jose, California near the heart of Silicon Valley, AlterLume is an upstart in the LED lighting industry. Literally founded in a garage in August 2010, and presently a serious early stage start-up company, AlterLume™ is offering high value solutions to the LED street and area lighting market with its innovative series of TruFit™ LED lamp products. The company has secured funding, formed strategic partnerships and owns existing patented technologies. These technologies have been proven in the newly introduced TruFit™ series of LED street and area light lamps that directly replace high pressure sodium and other high-intensity discharge (HID) or high-brightness bulbs for outdoor street and area lighting. The company has completed a pilot project installation in September 2011 at a popular local city community center with continuous normal scheduled operation and energy savings of up to 80% for the city. AlterLume continued to collect and review data from this and other strategic locations through 2012. Presently in pre-production mode, AlterLume™ is shipping product and installing additional pilot and evaluation projects at commercial and municipal sites around the state of California, Korea and Europe. Production samples have been submitted for ETL/UL testing and certification was acquired in Q3 of 2012.
