Alaska Search Partners is a private equity Search Fund focused on finding, buying, and growing companies headquartered in Alaska. The fund targets companies with consistent cash flow and upside market opportunity. The firm prefers to invest in companies with revenues between $5 million and $40 million.
The leaders of Alaska Search Partners have over 30 years of combined experience in starting services lines, growing companies as well as mergers and acquisitions.
In the short term: The first search fund in Alaska is accepting a limited number of investors. We are also looking for a few more search fund and acquisition investors (both individual and institutional) to participate in the equity and financing package.
In the medium term: We are concurrently identifying criteria appropriate companies, performing due diligence, and making selections for acquisition. We will lead the acquired company(s) to desired growth and IRR. We expect to start the second search fund in early 2014.
In the long term: We expect to create serial search funds, serial acquisitions, and serial successful growth companies. We plan to create a network of investors (individual, institutional, and Alaska Native Corporation) committed to the search fund model as an investment alternative in Alaska.
By design, target companies are stable, have consistent cash flow, and unmet market expansion opportunity. This is the typical growth pattern and plateauing of small companies. Placing well-educated, high caliber, strongly motivated managers who have a leadership skill set for larger organizations into such an environment captures unmet opportunity. The results are (a) an attractive risk-adjusted IRR, (b) development of a management infrastructure which creates a self-sustaining organization, and (c) Alaska will develop a stronger, more robust, medium sized business community capable of competing more effectively throughout Alaska, the lower 48, and internationally.
