This week in history… Labor Day is celebrated for the first time in New York in 1882! The holiday, which celebrates the nation’s workers, revealed the growing strength of the national labor movement at the end of the 19th century. Labor Day became an official holiday 12 years later thanks to efforts by union leaders.
