Savory Pie Guy is a wholesale manufacturer of savory pies whose goal is to evolve the savory pie category beyond pot pies with a hand-held, all-natural, high quality and inventive product line. Our all-butter flaky crust and flavors tailored to the American palate have developed a strong following in New York and Boston. Savory Pie Guy (“SPG”) started selling to grocery stores in Q2 of 2013 and now is in over 60 locations including Whole Foods North Atlantic (Boston), Whole Foods North East (New York City), Fresh Direct, Kings, Mrs. Green’s, Union Market and dozens of independent stores in the greater NYC area. The Company has brought additional manufacturing capacity online and is looking to raise funds for working capital, developing sales and improving marketing. Management Profiles: Sean “Zeke” Mandel: Founder & CEO A lifelong foodie, Zeke had his first taste of savory pie as a child in his parents’ kitchen where his father would make Argentine Empanadas on Sundays. In the early 1990’s, he expanded his food knowledge and experience by working in various kitchens in New York and California. While working as a director of technology on Wall Street, Mr. Mandel saw the opportunity to create a company that develops the savory pie market with products tailored to the American palate and certified for national distribution. Mr. Mandel has an M.B.A. in Entrepreneurship from the London Business School, an M.B.A. in Finance and a B.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University, and an A.O.S. Baking and Pastry Arts from the Institute of Culinary Education. Dakota R. Smith: CFO Mr. Smith has over 15 years experience in executive level general management, sales, marketing, business turn around, ecommerce, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and new business development for businesses generating up to $183 million in revenues. Mr. Smith has led or co-led the placement of $31 million of controlling equity transactions and senior debt facilities for private equity clients operating in the small cap space. Mr. Smith has served as a captain in the US Army in such locations as Korea, Germany, Sarajevo and Iraq. Mr. Smith received his M.B.A. from the Stern School of Business at New York University and his bachelors from Bucknell University. Jonathan D. Shapiro, Board Member Mr. Shapiro has more than 15 years experience in private equity and investment banking successfully helping to grow and advise companies, having personally executed in excess of 100 transactions. Mr. Shapiro is a Partner at Ropart Asset Management, where he serves as President and CFO of Fragmob, has served as CFO of Nature Technologies and Solution X Global. Mr. Shapiro serves on the Board of Directors of Digital Traffic Systems, Nature Technologies, and iCentris and previously served on the board of Solution X Global. Mr. Shapiro is a board member for the CFO Alliance – New York, a member of NYSSA (New York Society of Security Analysts), the CFA Institute and the American Institute of CPAs. Mr. Shapiro received an MBA from Columbia Business School and an MBA from London Business School. He received an MS in Accounting from the Lubin School of Business and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers College. Mr. Shapiro is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a licensed CPA.
