The company was founded in July 2004 by a small group of animal loving friends, Inna Shekhtman, Louise Bryce, Linda Edwards, Kevin Plimbley, Orene Webster, and Kris Morrow. (The latter three moved on to pursue other endeavours after the first year.) Red Dog Deli began operations in a small 600 sq. ft. warehouse on Mitchell Island, BC. By focusing on quality products, manufacturing best practices and excellent customer service, the company continued to grow and expand and is now clearly established as a leader in the raw pet food industry.
Inna and Adhara
Today, under the leadership of Inna who manages the daily operation of the company, Red Dog Blue Kat raw pet food is produced in a state of the art, 7,200 sq. ft. food manufacturing facility that rivals many of the food producers creating products for human consumption. With 17 employees (and often their dogs) coming to work each day, Red Dog Deli continues to grow. Red Dog Blue Kat pet food can be found in quality pet stores and through holistically minded veterinarians in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. While they are not involved in the business on a daily basis, partners Louise and Linda continue to provide product development support.
Raw pet food is growing in popularity as a result of an increased focus by pet people on providing their four-legged family members with healthy, balanced diets. Red Dog Blue Kat raw pet food is made with free-range, non-medicated meat and organic vegetables. The nutritional makeup of Red Dog Blue Kat is similar to what animals ate in the wild hundreds of years ago. In fact, it has only been in the last hundred years that humans have fed their pets processed foods. Returning to raw is a natural shift in pet health.
