Meridian Ocean Services (Meridian) is a Rhode Island-based marine services firm founded in 2012 that focuses on subsea inspection and maintenance of large offshore and inshore assets. We have built a services platform primarily focused on clients in the multi-billion dollar oil & gas, infrastructure, shipping, and environmental markets. Meridian leverages remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), commercial diving, subsea survey and imaging capabilities, and additional proprietary and client-specific tooling to streamline and automate existing processes. Our goal is to keep clients on charter and to facilitate the transition to both fleetwide and predictive / continuous maintenance in an effort to maximize asset life, increase safety, and minimize cost.
Current approaches to subsea inspection are antiquated, relying primarily on human intervention (divers) and employing an asset-by-asset, rather than a standardized / fleetwide, approach. This creates several challenges, including safety liability; high cost, with assets coming off charter whenever divers are in the water; and inefficiency, because no technology transfer or economies of scale are possible across a client’s assets.
Meridian’s services platform represents the initial phase of our broader vision, whereby today’s opportunities to address clients’ specific engineering challenges will enable us to create simpler, better tools, systems, and interfaces for gathering and analyzing data, accessing critical institutional information, and ultimately facilitating more proactive and predictive maintenance. We believe this will enable us to develop a highly differentiated, mission critical product offering that supports clients across multiple marine industries and positions Meridian as a thought leader in the asset integrity space.
