Bill and Cherie Marcum began their career in the farming industry in the 1940's. They added greenhouses to their farming practice growing hanging baskets and selling tomatoes to local grocers. Before long, Bill and Cherie could see that this line of work could "grow" into something more. With encouragement and an increased demand from current customers, Bill and Cherie established Marcum's Nursery at the current location in Goldsby, Oklahoma.
In 1982, landscape services began at Marcum's Nursery. On that day, Monty and Kelly Marcum, Juan Martinez, Elisio Ortiz, and Juan Angelas began installing the first residential “official” landscape project. Twenty-three years later those same people are still employed at Marcum’s Nursery.
Monty and Kelly, became partners in the family business in 1987.In February 1994, our Oklahoma City location opened at 119th and Pennsylvania Avenue. That same year, Bill and Cherie's daughter, Marcia Marcum Tadlock, became a partner in the family business.
Marcum's employs over 60 employees year-round. We pride ourselves in having over 90,000 square feet of green house and shrub areas and the largest selection of trees in central Oklahoma growing over 30,000 trees on 200 acres of Oklahoma soil.
In October of 2012, 1.69 acres of land were purchased near the Oklahoma City store allowing customers to access the nursery from 119th as well as Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Goldsby store added a beautiful new pergola to showcase their expanded garden and art decor lines for outdoor and interior decorating in 2014, and Kelly Marcum announces the nurseries new patented sweet potato vine, the 'Kelly Ray' PP24446.
Since the beginning, the Marcum family has established the work ethic that our customers are our priority and that our goal is to deliver quality merchandise and service. This commitment and work ethic still holds true today and we believe is the result of our continued success.
