Gearhead Outfitters exists to create a positive shopping experience for our guests. Gearhead is known for its relaxed environment, specialized inventory and customer service for those pursuing an active lifestyle. True to our local roots, we employ local residents of each city we operate in, support local organizations, and strive to build relationships within our communities.
Founder, Ted Herget, started the business in a friend’s living room in Jonesboro, AR in 1997. It soon moved into a 700 sq. ft. store where it thrived for five years before moving into a downtown location on Main St. in 2003. As an anchor store for the revitalization of downtown Jonesboro, the store helped bring new life to the historic location. In 2006, Gearhead opened its second location in Jonesboro’s Mall at Turtle Creek. In 2011, the company branched out to central AR with the opening of a location in the Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock. Gearhead also owns and operates Northeast Arkansas’s largest full service bike shop, Gearhead Cycle House. The Cycle house is Arkansas’ only Shimano service center and has the only Specialized Master BG Fit Technician in the region. Gearhead has now expanded out of its home state of Arkansas for the first time, with a location in Shreveport, LA in the Mall St. Vincent. In October of 2013, Gearhead opened a second Little Rock location in the Promenade at Chenal. In April of 2014, we opened our sixth in-state store and the first in Northwest AR in the Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers.
