Dark Matter is a private investment group acquiring control positions in profitable lower-middle-market businesses across the United States and Canada.
Our team comes from institutional investing backgrounds at mega-fund private equity firms. Part of the team currently operates a private equity fund and part operates a family office, which gives us both institutional process discipline and the flexibility of balance-sheet capital.
We fund equity from our own balance sheets alongside external investors, and maintain established relationships with commercial banks and lower-middle-market private credit lenders. We are able to move quickly and fund our own diligence costs.
We are long-term holders, not financial engineers. We look for businesses with durable recurring revenue, a management team already in place, and modest capital requirements — and we are direct about the fact that we run a thorough diligence process. Sellers and advisors who value a clear, well-run process will find us straightforward to work with.
