Cortelyou Capital (“Cortelyou”) is an entrepreneurial investment firm focused on acquiring and operating a single high-quality company over the long-term. After purchasing a business, Sean Penso, the firm’s Founder and Managing Partner, will assume leadership and day-to-day management responsibilities of the acquired company.

Sean A. Penso (Founder and Managing Partner)
Mr. Penso founded Cortelyou to pursue his dream of owning and operating a business. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York to immigrant parents, he spent most of his free time working for his uncle’s family-run business. After graduating from Dartmouth College, Mr. Penso pursued a career in investment banking at Barclays, where he advised global companies on mergers & acquisitions, and private equity at ICV Partners, where he worked alongside CEOs of lower middle market companies to scale their businesses.
In his spare time, Mr. Penso enjoys spending time with family, reading, swimming and pursuing a variety of outdoor activities. Mr. Penso holds a B.A. in Economics & History from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
