Most recently VP at Parkland and Sunoco, where I ran an $8B+ fuel and $1B+ convenience retail business across 2,000+ stations and led $3.5B+ of M&A. Started my career in M&A and strategy at Accenture. BCom (First Class Honours), Queen's University.
What I’m Looking For
A business to acquire, build, or co-invest in
· Size: $2M-$15M EBITDA. Open to smaller for the right founder-led situation.
· Type: Multi-site, services-oriented, or consumer-facing. Recurring or repeat-customer revenue preferred. Real assets a plus.
· Sectors I know well: Fuel and convenience, retail, distribution, light industrial services, light manufacturing, consumer services, hospitality and short-term rental.
· Sectors I'm open to: Anything operationally complex with a clear improvement thesis. I care more about the business and the people than the category.
· Geography: Canada and the U.S. Strong preference for Western Canada given my base, but I'll travel for the right deal.
· Structure: Outright acquisition, majority recap, or co-investment alongside another sponsor or operator. Open to creative structures with sellers who want continued upside or a defined transition.
· Not for me: Early-stage / pre-revenue, businesses requiring deep regulatory or scientific expertise I don't have.
What I Bring
· P&L leadership at scale. Ran a business with $9B+ in sales, 2,000+ sites, and $800M+/year of gross margin.
· M&A across the cycle. Sourcing, diligence, negotiation, financing, closing, integration, and the unglamorous post-deal work that determines whether a deal actually creates value.
· Strategy and Operating reps. Determining strategy, value proposition, and required capabilities. Executing decisions related to sales, margin, supply, merchandising, real estate, network planning, and the people-and-process work of running a complex business day-to-day.
· Owner-operator perspective. Own and operate a small short-term-rental business in Canmore – built the brand, the operating platform, and run it myself. It’s in the top 5% of the local market, but operating it myself has been a humbling reminder that running a small business well can take as much or more judgment and hustle than running a large corporation.
· Capital. Personal capital available for the right deal, with access to additional capital through co-investment partners.
