I am in the process of launching a holding company where I acquire SMB businesses and operate them for the long term. I personally started out my career in the corporate world as an engineer and eventually worked at various equity hedge funds focusing on technology and consumer/services companies. I have occasionally invested in small private equity deals at those funds (mostly minority investment with one control buyout). I am looking at companies with up to $2-3m of EBITDA initially focused on sectors I have experience investing in (technology, consumer and services businesses). I am using partly my own capital and bringing in investors on a deal by deal basis. I like recurring revenue businesses that have healthy customer retention rates where there is opportunity for bolt on acquisitions over time. I am open to many industries as I have experience covering a vast amount of sectors from my prior investing roles.
