Emily Bergstrom is a Booth MBA with over 18 years of leadership experience looking for a small company to acquire and operate for the long term. She spent 12 years at McMaster-Carr Supply Co, a privately held industrial supplies distributor much loved and respected by makers worldwide. During her career there, she was exposed to every aspect of the business from product management to operations to sales and accounting. Emily’s time at McMaster-Carr taught her the importance of listening – to customers, to business partners, and to employees.
She believes that employee-owned companies are incentivized to grow faster, treat employees better, and be more resilient. While many owners want to sell to their employees, the process can be complicated and employees can have trouble accessing financing. Emily created Ostrom Capital to solve this problem and plans incorporate employee profit sharing in any acquisition.
