Mont & Co. is a lower middle market sponsor that looks for profitable companies or brands valued between $10 million and $100 million with readily available opportunities to improve ESG health scores. We try and answer the following four questions in applying ESG principles to our investments: 1. Is the company measuring it’s ESG health in the following areas: water consumption, carbon footprint, diversity and inclusion of management and employee base? 2. Is the company disclosing the information by reporting and publishing the data? 3. Is the Company enforcing these initiatives by using KPI’s, connecting management compensation to these goals and by protecting whistle blowers? 4. Is the Company communicating these initiatives with shareholders, customers and the public? Additionally, we opportunistically look to invest in companies owned and/or led by underrepresented groups as well as enhance diversity in the leadership and organization to drive value-creation for our investors.
